When building a website, I often tell clients to think of it like owning a car. This down-to-earth analogy makes tech terms much easier to understand!

The Website Is Your Car
Your website is like a car. It’s what everyone sees and interacts with.

The Domain Name Is Your License Plate
A car has a license plate.. a name. This is the name of your website - e.g. www.creative-crescendo.com. Your domain name is like your license plate.

Hosting Is Your Parking Space
Every car needs a place to park. For websites, hosting is your “parking space.” This is where all your website files are stored, so when someone types in your license plate (domain name), they’re sent to the right spot to see your site. Good hosting keeps your website safe, working, and easy to access.
As a business owner. I recommend you own all three.
If you own all three - your website, domain name, hosting - you have full access and ownership of your website. When you work with me, I walk you through all the steps to make sure you own your website.
